About us

Founded in 2004, the primary vocation of DREPAVIE is to support the sustainable development of quality and accessible care for the most disadvantaged sickle cell patients on the African continent. The aim of the association is to train patients and their families, as well as healthcare professionals, so that they can manage the disease independently in a sustainable manner. The principle is to work with local structures in a spirit of true collaboration. Drépavie has thus developed multiple partnerships which have led the association to turn to the United Nations (UN) based in Geneva. Since 2014, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) has granted special consultative status to Drépavie, a status which gives the association a platform to carry out advocacy activities at the international community level to strengthen the implementation of national and international programs to fight against sickle cell disease, as well as actions to develop sustainable and accessible care, on the African continent.
